And so it comes to this.
I dun mean to say anything wrong. I'll just skip to the important part.
Chii Terng has insecurity issues about working in a pair. He feels like he won't be able to commit much when animation comes next block. And he doesn't feel good abt letting me do the workload. Also. he thought our ideas were quite, ambitious, even i think so. So i think in the end, ehwhatzerodegrees will go solo.
I have nothing to say about it except that i have predicted this and i am disappointed with the arrangement.
For my individual report, i feel like revising it again. I think i missed out on a whole lot of things so probably i'll do a second better job.
It's time, ubin.

Today
is the individual proposal submission date
I think all of us never put in the contents that is needed in the proposal,
therefore i think we will be marked down.
People who are presenting tomorrow will benefit, as they already know what to be included in the proposal and the presentation,
However, It over already,
now what i can do is not to make the same mistake again for the interim one.
Time flies when we are all rushing for all the date lines,
As usual, today i get nervous in my presentation again and i had lost out some point like the video i am planning to do is actually supposed to be a comedy, but i forget to cover that point although is written in my notebooks, i think i need to train myself to present and at the same time not to lose any important point, which is my biggest weakness,
hope i can improve my presentation skills.
Let 'choing' for interim now ,zerodegrees!!!!!

Going not well
Ubin, actually u dont need to blame yourself ,i think the proposal is well written..
Monday got individual presentation, stress!!!!
only today then i finally conclude my two ideas
however i dont think my two ideas are creative enough..
i think i will need to research deeper in order to get the result i wanted.
I think having two module is very stressful.
but until now...i survived,so i cant see the reason why i cant bear through this two months.
for me, presentation is my biggest weakness, when i presenting, i always miss out point because i am too panic. I think to tackle this is the biggest challenge.
This monday i will be presenting alone, i hope everything goes right..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO IYLIA!
AND Yea,
we have finally finished our presentation of the Council for Third Age exercise. And its a tiny weight of our shoulders.
Our ideas were such that
Proposal 1: AMAZING RACE. 10 stations were set up either at different CCs, or different spot of a CC. The stations were such as Sewing, Cooking, Baking, Drawing, Calligraphy, Congkak, Mahjong, Chess, Game consoles, Photo taking etc. It was to allow the old and young generation to bond and also learn skills from each other.
Proposal 2: CARNIVAL. Bazaar set up by teams of a elderly and youngster to sell stuffs such as 2nd hand goods/handicraft/drinks/food etc. There is also a performance by both elderly and youngsters. In the sense of a band that consist of both elderly and youngster with modern and traditional instruments. There will also be dance performed. This is to allow the old and young generation to have fun together and also learn from each other.
We were pretty freaked out as our slides were pretty short and thus panicked before we presented. But, guess we still managed to explain our ideas out to the class. Phew.
Couldn't believe that there is already so much stress or rather work in just an exercise.
Now we have to start with our final and that is our individual work first. JIAYOU

I wanna apologise to Chii Terng and Amanda for taking the assignment into my own hands and shaping it into a failure.
I guess part of me really wanted Chii Terng to get his DesHnC done first because it can really be a bi***. And i didn't want to pressure Amanda either because she does her work well and it won't be fair to dump an extra load on her.
I took the proposal into my own hands and i regretted doing so. The moment i see the others' proposals boasting 20 pages or more, i knew we were in big big trouble.
The thing is, i borrowed a proposal writing guide from the library, and i followed pretty much blindly. So i missed out on the survey questions, detailed research and citations and also breaking down the events into further points like location and timeline.
I had this idea that we didn't need to present super-detailed research and analysis because i felt that the Council for Third Age should have found out about this stuff before they even set the council up. BUT i didn't take into account that this being a school exercise, we probably have to present to a client that has zero knowledge about the whole thing.
I don't think the pre-proposal had any effect either.
i only knew that what my group wanted to put forth is that we wanted the grandparents and grandchildren to be learning from each other about each other and about their culture and origins.
EPIC F**L
I talked to Chii Terng about doing a revised proposal for the exercise. Hopefully it'll save our butts from the half past six bs we presented on Wednesday.
*******
We went to the LT for our revised design brief handouts. I didn't read Haowei's post about the previous brief but knowing him, he must have had stirred some problems to even initited this revision in the first place.
I understand the the final FORMAT of our project is a VIDEO. So an animatic is still a video if you arranged it to be moving. I think my group will be doing a mix of animation and video. But 1 months and a week is a little rushed in my opinion. Hope we get started soon.
I still haven't done my ideas. i have some in my brain. I'll pluck em' out soon.

zero degrees works
today, i think i am disappointed with myself.
unable to research anything about the proposal..
however, thanks to classmates and siew cheng,
we finally knew something about writing a proposal.
we found a problem when we discussing about the survey question today,
we realised our survey question is actually not as effective as we think because there is nothing much to analyse and it is quite useless in helping us to shortlist all the solution we came out.
this actually make us a lot behind time, i think tonight is a sleepless night again.
i will need to come out with proposal for second ideas and let ubin compile tomorrow,
to be able to finish in time.
i think we all put in efforts for this assignment..
i hope bad things will turn right soon...
i need to go do the proposal already...
Ciao

Konichiwa lolololololol.
I didn't know what to blog about yesterday so i did it today.
Anyways, i'd like to talk about surveying.
It's really very very important to design your questions in order for you to get the answers that you are looking for.
Your questions have to cater for the target audience, and if you're gonna go more into detailed analysis of the subject, you have to have to have to have to have prior knowledge of the topic at hand. For example, in skateboarding, you have to know the anatomy of a skateboard and the different brands of the parts in order for you to understand why certain skateboarders prefer this over that and you have to study their playing grounds (street or skatepark).
For our tasks, i found that the questions we prepared for the elderly were too.. generic? Or maybe the answers we get may not be satisfying.
Okay i'll show you. A regular teenage dude or dudette will have 4 grandparents.
BUT if the dad married another woman, he would have 4 grandparents and two step-grandparents. Which is 6 grandgrands.
And those who are already 6 feet deep in the earth? Do they still count as grandparents? Praying for them beside their grave is spending time with them too, no?
So when i ask a dude what he likes to do when he spends time with his grandparents, what should his answer be?
Is it the normal,"Play mahjong coz i can own them any day."
Or should he ask," Err.. Which ones?"
The same goes for grandparents right?
If i ask an elderly if she communicates well with her grandchildren, shouldn't she reply with," Which ones?"
Coz in normal cases i'll like to think grandparents have at least 6 grandchildren.
AND because they can pick from a pool of subjects to relate the questions too, they'll probably associate the questions to the ones they are most close with.
Like my grandmother choosing my female cousin over me(favouritism). And she has 30+ grandchildren. I know, what a workout right?
I feel that the surveys need to cater to those who are not that close to the grandparents or vice versa as well as those who are close, because we may never know their environment. My cousin stays with my grandmother so they see each other everyday. And i see my grandma like.. uh.. hmm.. this is tricky..
ANYWAYS! TO YOUR FUTURE SURVEYS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A LITTLE RESEARCH AND CONSIDER THE ABOVE FACTORS (though here are a few others) BEFORE PROCEEDING. Should i do the survey again? Like no time like that ah. The

Zero Degrees is not freezing point!!!!!
at least three of us are not like ice and have nothing to talk or laugh..
is fun!!!!Zero degrees with the s in degree is the best temperature!!!
haaalllloooo..
haha
today is a fine day.
to day, Siew Cheng shown us two videos which i find it nice..
wonder when can i start producing such video...
cant wait to be doing video..if i am going to get chosen for animation ..
i think i am going to cry~~~~
haha
Today we discuss survey question for the third age assignment and question will be passed to me tomorrow to translate for the elderly.
and also we come out with a lot of solutions first then will narrow down the possible solution after we analyse our survey.
I found out that my group members are very fun. esspecially when we are coming out with solution, we had a lot of funny and creative idea. Like Amanda suggest the photo booth for the elderly and the youngster to take photo together and take part in the look alike competition, And for Ubin, he suggested all the traditional games like gasing, congkak, all the malay traditional games.
I think if we combine a bit of the racial harmony feeling into the carnival, it will be quite meaningful.
We really have fun discussing and running to the canteen..haha..Oppss..not suppose to say..
haha(censoredXXXXXXXXX)
However we did our work seriously ,that is the point..
Hope it goes well for our MOI PJ1!!!

It's always nice when alumnis return to school to give a talk to the current batch of students. We get insights of their personal journeys in the same school we are studying in and how much work he had to clock in before being very good at what he does.
I'm still surprised that Victric didn't consider filmmaking as an immediate career after graduation because of the lecturers' high regards for him and how amazing his works are. And in my own personal train of thoughts, i really wondered what he went through in school during his time as compared to mine. Might i be in the same path as him?
The whole time, i was comparing my education to his. From what I know, block teaching didn't start until 2/3 or 4 years back? So i really thought Victric had a more wholesome education than us. I mean, if you consider the fact that we get to learn a certain module for a month only. There's only so much you can do in a month. And lecturers are always encouraging us to explore the lessons further by ourselves. I personally find it impossible especially if you only learned photoshop for 3 days minimum and you wanna be more advanced in it, but in the next block you're having two modules. Unless you wanna sacrifice nights lah.
There are other thoughts like whether design school in JAE was a good idea and other thoughts.
In simpler terms, i'm jealous of victric.
Because his films are uber awesome. It really sucks if you were watching them and you happen to sit not to far a distance people who has no real interest in filmmaking a.k.a doesn't understand anything in the films. It really demoralises me when they feel restless and starts saying things like, "Wt* i don't understand this s***." and "I wanna sleep siah."
Someone down two rows from mine was explaining one of the camera angles in CLOSER A P A R T, when the shot gave the illusion that they are near but are actually almost a meter away from each other, and how it relates to the title and the story.
The person next to her just shrugged.
But Victric shed new light on a passion i've not considered before. I always thought that Hollywood was big and all. It's big and rich, i'll give you tht. But i feel that local filmmaking is more sentimental to me. I wanna be ticketboy next singapore films festival.
As for the assignment.
We decided to focus on a few selected points from our mindmap of Singaporean culture between the young and older generations.
We then split ourselves to online research team and survey/on-field research.
I think things are going slow and steady. Which is fine. Coz you know, we're cool and we are hip.
Lollololololololol.
It's a very weird feeling to suddenly use the design process again afetr how many months since ComDI. It's like we already know this stuff but then when it comes to the real thing, guess what, we're stuck.
Not exactly, but i hope it won't happen.

Yo Guys & Gal,
What is your group’s username? Your TagBoard doesn’t allow me to leave log msg, so I guess I will have to email you my first comments on your blog.
What a cool blog you have!
I’m so sorry, not sure what happened… maybe I pressed the enter key accidentally and just posted “Hi Guys & gal” in your TagBoard. Anyway, I saw some interesting “requests” in your posts and am wondering why you didn’t speak to me personally about it such as you want to watch the past P1 works and videos your seniors did for the council for third age (my personal short form for it is c3a). Try not to treat your blog like a wishing well or wishing board and hope that I will grant you your blogged wishes. I am not a virtual fairy god-mother, you know!
Treat yourself more like the main character in Inkheart, talk to me about it ok? No need to paiseh. Especially I think I do know your group quite well with one student from my last class and two from my care group.
I have to agree with Iylia, I mean Ubin, I tut Iylia is such a nice name but anyway…
I agree with Ubin that at the end of the day, $2m for a long campaign isn’t really a lot especially when people’s mindsets take a long time to change…. Hence must spend the money wisely only in well thought projects.
I really hope you can bring up more such good suggestions in class to benefit all your classmates. Not to worry, I will remember its your idea!
Hope you are researching hard!

On the second day, we went to school to collate our research on "
The council for Third Age". Basically researching on what they are do, have done and will be doing. Found out that "
The council for Third Age" is a pretty new organization set up in only May, 2007. We also found that they have funding schemes to help the senior citizens. They had also organized a few events and are still organizing.
We also recapped or rather, learnt about Design Process.. Research, analyze, explore, challenge, validate and voila, the solution.
We decided to research more about Singaporeans; the difference between the senior citizens and the younger generation. We brainstormed a few ideas and mind-mapped them. Then splitting the roles to go home and research on different aspects such as their different interests, lifestyles, communications etc.
We also came up with a "time line" or "roster". That is...
Tues : Come up with questions of the survey and also do our research.
Wed : Go for a field research and continue researching. Then analyze our field researches.
Thurs : Come together to collate the research. Come up with ideas. Narrow down to a few and research more on it.
Fri : Finalize idea and do powerpoint.
Mon : Finalize and present!
That's all folks.
&Oh ya! Our skin's up! Free feel to comment too!
Bye!

Okay, start of Project One.
Wasn't expecting this much assignment briefs in one day but..
Yeah.
I'm glad i got this bunch of team members. Although i don't know much about Amanda and Chii Terng, i hold them with high regard. I believe everyone's got their time and place to shine and P1 is definitely the starting point for the three of us.
(At least I think so)
But i hope to get to know these dude and dudette better as we progress through the next two blocks.
Sigh.. Ground rules.
Okay okay i'll apologise for the late email to Siew Cheng for the blog details. We should've let Chii Terng do research instead of creating the blog because he had painting at school. We only had the blog set up after 12 though (credits to Chii Terng nonetheless).
No tagboards at the moment while i try to figure out this mess they call blogspot.
It's kinda late to request for tuesday, but i would like to see the showreel of last years(yes, yearS) of P1 works. Anything that will give us a base for our individual presentation ideas.
And also the <60 video that impressed the Council for Third Age if Possible. Me and Amanda have done research on the Council for a bit. Mostly about what the council does and the past, present and future events that have taken, are taking and will take place. I'm still scepticle about whether $2M is enough dough for an on-going two years campaign.
We're also bringing in research about other countries efforts in promoting this lifestyle or inter-generational events such as Singapore's. We took point that certain countries might not have the retirement age prolonged like Singapore's. It's good to research though.
Coz research is a good way to start any project. But must research properly, so that we won't get wrong info. And also because siew cheng will know if it's an 'anyhow-do-one' kind of research.
Peace yo. Iylia a.k.a UBIN(please call me by my nickname. easier and cooler yo)

Today, is the opening day of our MOI Pj1,
there are a lots ground rules to ensure our attendance and punctuality.
they said that all this things are to train us for the industry next time.
as the internship 's employers emphasize more on the attitude of the students.
Today is the first day of this module, we chose our group members, discuss together to have an unique group name and we were given assignment one.
we would need to come out with lots of solutions and choose the most suitable solution to solve the problem given to us.
I think random shuffle of people will make us more prone to working with strangers,
making use of this will benefits us when we entering the industry.
