Konichiwa lolololololol.
I didn't know what to blog about yesterday so i did it today.
Anyways, i'd like to talk about surveying.
It's really very very important to design your questions in order for you to get the answers that you are looking for.
Your questions have to cater for the target audience, and if you're gonna go more into detailed analysis of the subject, you have to have to have to have to have prior knowledge of the topic at hand. For example, in skateboarding, you have to know the anatomy of a skateboard and the different brands of the parts in order for you to understand why certain skateboarders prefer this over that and you have to study their playing grounds (street or skatepark).
For our tasks, i found that the questions we prepared for the elderly were too.. generic? Or maybe the answers we get may not be satisfying.
Okay i'll show you. A regular teenage dude or dudette will have 4 grandparents.
BUT if the dad married another woman, he would have 4 grandparents and two step-grandparents. Which is 6 grandgrands.
And those who are already 6 feet deep in the earth? Do they still count as grandparents? Praying for them beside their grave is spending time with them too, no?
So when i ask a dude what he likes to do when he spends time with his grandparents, what should his answer be?
Is it the normal,"Play mahjong coz i can own them any day."
Or should he ask," Err.. Which ones?"
The same goes for grandparents right?
If i ask an elderly if she communicates well with her grandchildren, shouldn't she reply with," Which ones?"
Coz in normal cases i'll like to think grandparents have at least 6 grandchildren.
AND because they can pick from a pool of subjects to relate the questions too, they'll probably associate the questions to the ones they are most close with.
Like my grandmother choosing my female cousin over me(favouritism). And she has 30+ grandchildren. I know, what a workout right?
I feel that the surveys need to cater to those who are not that close to the grandparents or vice versa as well as those who are close, because we may never know their environment. My cousin stays with my grandmother so they see each other everyday. And i see my grandma like.. uh.. hmm.. this is tricky..
ANYWAYS! TO YOUR FUTURE SURVEYS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A LITTLE RESEARCH AND CONSIDER THE ABOVE FACTORS (though here are a few others) BEFORE PROCEEDING. Should i do the survey again? Like no time like that ah. The
